Why Newborn Photos Are A Must by Kelli Conley

In this blog we’re going to be focusing on sweet baby Spencer and why newborn photos are so beyond cherished (I mean it can go without saying, but oh well!)

Giving birth is one of the most painful, hard, traumatic, and exhausting times, but it is also one of the most emotional, empowering, happy, and rewarding times. You have to get through all of the hard parts to celebrate the joy and love that is your new baby! Why not capture that joy and love in a photoshoot to look back on forever, and remember and be proud and empowered of the hardships you had to go through to bring this beautiful child into the world.

Even though the newborn phase seems like it’s going to last forever, trust me when I say it goes in a blink of en eye and next thing you know your newborn isn’t such a newborn anymore! These photos capture the little parts of your baby that might ago away with time, like the way their little hands are clenched, or the color of their hair. These photos can keep these fleeting details saved forever, so you never forget.

These photos also capture you and your partner as you are transitioning into this new and slightly scary but super amazing stage in life! They serve as a time capsule for not only your tiny little baby, but also for Mom and Dad as well, and that’s really special.

Newborn photo sessions are so precious to everyone involved, and we love capturing them. These are all wonderful reasons to us why newborn photos are a must do!

Engagement Photos & Why They’re Important by Kelli Conley

Congratulations! You’ve gotten engaged and now you’re starting your wedding planning process. One of the vendors you choose to book is your wedding photographer. Some might say your photographer is one of the biggest choices you make along this wedding planning journey. They are there to capture all of the important moments of the biggest day of your life, so they will be right there with you as you’re tying the knot. It’s key to choose a photographer that you feel comfortable with and actually like, as well as basing who you choose off of their photography style.

Let’s say you’ve met/chatted with a few different photographers, either via Zoom or face-to-face, and you found one that you think is perfect for your wedding, so you book them! This is where engagement photos are key. Some photographers even include an engagement session in their packages because they’re this important. These sessions let the couple and the photographer get to know each other in a more relaxed setting. The photographers get to feel out what their clients are comfortable with, and the couple gets to see what the photographer is like in this setting before the chaos and emotions of their big day.

More often than not, it is usually the bride who makes contact with the photographer, and can be just her when meeting with them. The groom may never have met the photographer before the wedding unless you have an engagement session. This way, by the time the wedding day rolls around, you, your photographer, and your fiancé will already be comfortable around each other, and it just adds to the ease of the day!

Besides, we’re all for having another set of photos to commemorate this season of life that you’re in! It’s so exciting for the both of you, and having an engagement session captures these emotions for you to look back on forever!

Engagement sessions also gives you a chance to be more personal in your photos. You can choose to have them done doing something that is special to you and your fiancé, or in a place that is significant to you two. We also love when our couples bring along their fur babies as well! The options are really endless!

Sometimes brides come into their wedding day with a list of photo ideas/ poses that they’ve seen that they want to do. Other brides let us as their photographers do the positioning and posing for them, or some are a mix of both and there is absolutely no wrong way to do it! Here is just a basic list of photos that you can expect to do/ can ask your photographer to do on your big day!

One of our favorites - the first look! Whether you’re doing this before the ceremony or the big walk down the aisle is going to be your first time seeing each other, you can definitely expect photos of this, and trust me they are nothing short of emotional!

Getting ready photos! The focus is all on you! This can make some people feel a bit awkward, but we’re here to make you feel as comfortable as possible with all the attention on you. Our best advice is to just embrace it, it’ll go by fast!

Bridal party photos! And not pictured- family photos. Your photographer will ask you ahead of time for a shot list of who is in what picture and things like that, so be ready for your face to hurt from smiling so much! This is also a good time to mention different poses for you and your bridal party to do if you have some.

The first dance! Another situation that can feel a bit uncomfortable since you’re dancing in front of all your guests. But, just remember that they are your closest friends and family who came just to celebrate you!

A huge one- newlywed photos! This is also a great category to have pose ideas that you want to try, and give those to your photographer ahead of time. Also be thinking if you want sunset photos, and let your photographer know about that too!

Exit photos! End your night in a bang! These photos are always so much fun and a great way to end the night, so think about what exit item you want to give your guests!

Lastly, remember- your photographer is here for you and your spouse. We are here to make your wedding day vision come to life into tangible photos, and we love to do what we do. Don’t be afraid to try new ideas and go out of your comfort zone!
