Over the past few years I have made it a point in my business to work to learn and grow throughout the year. One of the things I have done the past three years in the winter (which is usually my slower season for weddings) is taking a photography workshop. Last year I took one that helped teach me a lot about off camera lighting and the basics of using the flash to light a wedding. This work shop took it up a notch and taught us how to use off camera lighting in every time of the day. We went outside mid-day and overpowered the sun (I didn't take pictures of this I was observing this portion), then we broke out into groups and tried different types of lighting. It is always a great experience to learn from such talented photographers and find out ways to improve my photography no matter what time of day or kind of light there is!
Here are just a couple examples of the different lighting scenarios we set up to test our skills in being able to use the flash and come up with some amazing photos.
Indian Land SC Child Photographer | Bennick is One /
It really is a small world and I find this more and more true every day. My sister who lives in Southern California (where I grew up and all my family still lives) met Bennick's grandmother while working at Starbucks in California. Through some course of talking she mentioned that her son lived in Indian Land, South Carolina so my sister mentioned me and that I was a photographer. So she got her son and daughter in law a photo shoot for Christmas which was perfect timing as Bennick turned one this February! We had throughout the shoot and Bennick was such a trooper as is started to sprinkle at the end, but he was as happy as could be in his wagon which was also a birthday present from grandma!
Rock Hill Newborn Photographer | Elodie /
I absolutely love the McPhail Family and couldn't have been more delighted when I found out Elodie had been born. Her nursery was adorable and I know she will be spoiled to pieces by her mommy and daddy! I have also had the opportunity to see their son Graham grow up the past few years and cannot wait to see how awesome of a big brother he is to Elodie. He was such a ham in these photos and loves her so much already! (And was excited to meet her before she was even born.... check out their maternity session from last fall here)
Published | Rock N Roll Bride | Proposal Stories /
For those of you who follow my blog, you probably read about Jeremy and Kenzie's amazing proposal story and how I was able to capture the memory of it for them. (See the post here) Well I am so excited to announce that they were featured in Rock N Roll Bride! The story is awesome as I truly feel that every proposal needs to be unique and special for just the two of you! The way Robbie proposed to me was unlike any other story I have heard. And I love hearing proposal stories from all my brides and I have to say that each one has been unique in its own way and perfect for each of the couples personalities and relationships!
Read the full story here and tell me what your proposal story was in the comments below!!

Andrew Jackson State Park Wedding Photographer | Jordan & Summersby | yah Photography /
Jordan and Summersby are like two peas in a pod. I met the two of them through my husband. They all worked at Summer Camp this past summer at Camp Canaan in Rock Hill, SC. When Summersby told me the day she was getting married I couldn't believe it as it was the only date I had available still in October! When she started to tell me the vision of their wedding and the story of the two of them I was super excited to be a part of their special day! Their wedding could not have been more perfectly "them". I am so happy to have had the chance to photograph their wedding and to have my husband by my side helping me that day. We are so happy to call Jordan and Summersby friends and can't wait to see what the Lord has in store for their future!
